Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), who replaced Sen. Thomas upon his passing away, has indicated he will oppose efforts to spend tax dollars on unethical embryonic stem cell research.  The senator is no stranger to medical science having been a respected physician for many years.  He was quoted as saying “I'm a strong advocate of medical research, research we can do to help people with disease, and I think we can do it in a way that we don't destroy embryos.”  The Casper Star Tribune also reports on his stem cell stance in an article that mentions several legislative issues.
