Dr.
David Prentice explains how ethically-obtained adult stem cells are and
have been providing real treatments and cures, while unethical embryonic stem
cells (which require the destruction of human embryos) still have yet to show
real promise.
Meanwhile,
Australian scientists have successfully
obtained pluripotent stem cells (cells that can become any type of tissue) from
kidney tissue (via induced pluripotent stem cell research, aka “iPSC”). Like embryonic stem cells, iPSC produce
pluripotent stem cells, but unlike embryo derived cells, they don’t involve the
destruction of innocent human life at an early stage of development.
